Madey Ramirez is an Alhambra-based artist with a Bachelor of Architecture from Woodbury University. She has always had an interest in art and architecture from a young age that has flourished with her experiences from school and her heritage. She is self-taught, having learned on her own and uses mediums in a non-traditional way. Her work draws from life, dreams, and mental health struggles.
With five years of architectural education under her belt, Madey works for a small architectural firm. While architecture has been an interest this has not stopped her from continuing her passion for art. Madey had won awards while in school for her art and has been a part of the Visual AIDs project, Postcards from the Edge.

I don't constrain myself to one type of medium or style. I often change it up depending on the kind of medium and what I'm feeling. My work is a response to and inspired by my mental health. I draw from vivid dreams as a result of my mental health and also as a release. To allow me to process what is happening at the moment. When I struggle to define what's going on in my head with words I process it with my art. It's becoming a driving force in my art journey. I can recall what my feelings and headspace were in making all my pieces. A part of me is left within each work, big or small.
In January of 2024, Lost Memories (6"x4", Gouache and Collage on Paper) was featured in Postcards From the Edge 2024, hosted by Visual AIDS. The honor of being able to participate in this Benfit Show never dims. This amazing organization provides supplies and assistance to artist living with HIV/AIDS
Abstract is Abstract - a group Virtual Reality show hosted by HMVC Gallery was a first-time experience for me but great nonetheless. It was a joy and pleasure to participate with Escape (12"x9", Watercolor on Paper)
From April to May of 2023, I had the opportunity to exhibit my art at Holy Grounds Coffee and Tea. It was such an incredible experience organizing, displaying, and hosting an opening receiption. I'm very fortunate for all the support I recieved and to everyone that came out to see.
In January of 2023, Falling (6"x4", Gouache on Paper) was featured in Postcards From the Edge 2023, hosted by Visual AIDS. It's such an honor to have been featured in this benefit show, espically to cause that is special to me.
